ADMISSIONS
The C. G. Jung Institute accepts applicants who have some education and/or experience in the mental health field as matriculated students, and applicants with no experience in the field as non-matriculated students.
Applicants must demonstrate a sustained interest in the intra-psychic and interpersonal aspects of the psychology of individuals, a proven capacity for high-level and self-motivated academic and clinical studies, and a readiness to continue in the on-going development of a fruitful relationship with the unconscious and its symbolic nature.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The next Open House Becoming A Jungian Analyst is Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 7:30 PM in the auditorium at the C. G. Jung Center Building, 28 East 39th Street, NYC. Questions regarding admissions can be answered by the Admissions Liaison. The deadline for fall 2013 admissions is March 25, 2013.
Following is the process to apply for entrance to the Jung Institute:
- The applicant has an initial phone interview with the admissions committee liaison to ascertain whether the basic requirements have been met.
- If approved to apply, the applicant receives an application form from the Executive Administrator.
- The applicant fills out the application form and mails it along with all supporting materials and non-refundable application fee ($150) to the Jung Institute by the current deadline. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- The applicant is interviewed by the Admissions Committee. This interview assesses the suitability of the applicant for training at the Institute by concentrating upon qualities of personal development, academic background, and clinical experience.
- The Admissions Committee makes its recommendation to the Board of Trustees at its next meeting.
- The applicant receives a letter from the Board of Trustees indicating their decision.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Non-matriculated Status
- 50 hours of psychotherapy (directly preceding application)
- Master’s or doctoral degree (in any field)
- All coursework completed during non-matriculated status will be credited.
- Non-matriculated students do not see patients, receive low-fee supervision, or participate in case seminars.
Matriculated Status
- 75 hours of Jungian analysis (50 of these hours directly preceding application)
- 50 hours of supervision
- Master’s or doctoral degree (in any field)
- One semester college level course or tutorial in psychopathology
- One semester college level course or tutorial in human development
ADVANCEMENT FROM NON-MATRICULATED TO MATRICULATED STATUS
Students who are accepted as non-matriculated may apply for advancement to matriculated status after at least one semester, once they have completed 75 hours of analysis with a Jungian analyst and 50 hours of supervision. It is recommended that all supervision hours prior to enrollment be conducted with a NYAAP or IAPP (certified Jungian) analyst. It is required that any hours conducted after enrollment be conducted with a NYAAP or IAAP analyst. In order to proceed to matriculated level students must also have completed college level courses or tutorials in developmental psychology and psychopathology. Students may only begin matriculated study in September. The student must contact the Board to request an interview to determine the student’s readiness to advance to matriculated status. The student’s supervisor must submit a written evaluation of their work to the Director of Training prior to the interview. |
